Θεωρείσαι ως ένας από τους καλύτερους beatmakers του χώρου αυτή τη στιγμή. Πως "διαχειρίζεσαι" αυτόν τον τίτλο;

Είναι πραγματικά τιμή για μένα. Αλλά ξέρεις τι; Είμαι αρκετά μετριόφρων για να το πάρω επάνω μου. Γενικά βλέπω ότι η μουσική μου αρέσει, αλλά δε θα με δεις ποτέ να περιαυτολογώ και να συζητάω για αυτό. Υπάρχουν πολλοί που αυτοχαρακτηρίζονται Νο1 και κορυφαίοι, αλλά αυτό δε λέει τίποτα. Την πραγματική σου αξία την καθορίζει ο κόσμος.

Παραμένοντας στη προηγούμενη ερώτηση, πως είναι να καταξιώνεσαι στον τομέα της μουσικής παραγωγής μέσα από μια κολλεκτίβα η οποία ήταν εξ ολοκλήρου επηρεασμένη από τον ήχο του Rza;

Είναι πολύ τιμητικό το να σε αναγνωρίζει ένας ζωντανός θρύλος. Εγώ από πλευράς μου το μόνο που μπορώ να κάνω για να δικαιολογήσω αυτή την αναγνώριση, είναι να συνεχίσω να δίνω τον καλύτερο μου εαυτό. Για μένα, για τους Wu, για την κουλτούρα του hiphop. Προσωπικά, θα ήταν μεγάλη ντροπή αν έφτανα εδώ που έφτασα μη καταβάλλοντας κάθε δυνατή προσπάθεια. Αυτό που μου μένει και κρατάω, είναι ότι "έπεισα" τον Rza να με "βάλει" στον κόσμο των 36 Chambers.

Μίλησε μας για τους Almighty! Είναι κάτι σαν supergroup;

Είναι μια φάση που έχει στήσει ο Μ80 στο Detroit. Εγώ συμμετείχα στο Original SIN με το beat του Come To Life Faster (το οποίο ο 80 ήθελε να το χρησιμοποιήσει ως interlude, αλλά του είπα ότι είναι πολύ καλό για να μη ραπάρω επάνω του). Γενικά παρότι φρέσκο group τα πάει πολύ καλά ως τώρα! Με την ευκαιρία, να στείλω τα χαιρετίσματα μου στους Μ80 & Purpose από Tragic Allies!

Θα ήθελα να μου πεις πέντε τραγούδια που έχεις γράψει, για τα οποία νιώθεις περήφανος.

1.  Day to God is 1.000 years - Το πρώτο μου κομμάτι. Σχεδόν άψογο. 
2. Street Corners - Masta Killa, Gza & Inspectah Deck - Κάτι παραπάνω από κλασσικό και αγαπημένο. 
3. Black Royalty - Ίσως η καλύτερη μου και βαθύτερη ερμηνεία ως τώρα. 
4. A Nice Hell - Αυτό το κομμάτι σημαίνει πολλά και για μένα και για την πόλη μου. Πάντα με γεμίζει σκέψεις όποτε το ακούω. Αρχικά προοριζόταν για το Thought For Food Vol. 1, αλλά όταν το άκουσα στην τελική του μορφή είπα "αποκλείεται να μπει απλά σε ένα mixtape". 
5. The Letter - Δε το έχει ακούσει κανείς ακόμα. Είναι μια ωδή σε ένα φίλο που έχασα από το επερχόμενο School for the Blindman (2011). Είναι το ίδιο έντονο όπως το A Nice Hell.
   

Υπάρχουν πολλοί που χαρακτηρίζουν τους εαυτούς τους Νο1, αλλά αυτό δε λέει τίποτα. Την πραγματική σου αξία την καθορίζει ο κόσμος.

Think Differently Music. Πες μας για αυτό.

Αν και δεν είμαι πλέον μέλος αυτής της ομάδας, μπορώ να σου πω ότι το όνομα της είναι αυτό που πραγματικά λέει! Ουδεμία σχέση με το σημερινό hiphop και όλη αυτή την φαρσοκωμωδία. Όπως προείπα δε συμμετέχω πια, αλλά αυτό δε κάνει λιγότερο Think Differently τους υπόλοιπους.

Wu Elements. Πες μας και για αυτό.

Κοίτα, υπάρχει πολύ μεγάλος σεβασμός μεταξύ μας. Το θέμα είναι ότι ο καθένας μας έχει την δική του φάση, τους δικούς του ανθρώπους και με αυτούς ασχολείται περισσότερο, εκ των πραγμάτων. Η απόσταση μεταξύ μας είναι αρκετά μεγάλη και η επικοινωνία δεν είναι τόσο συχνή όσο θα έπρεπε, ώστε να προκύψει ένα album υπό το όνομα των Wu Elements.

Σου αρέσει ο Kanye West σαν παραγωγός; Πολύς λόγος γίνεται γύρω από το όνομα του. Πιστεύεις ότι το αξίζει;

Ναι! Μου αρέσει σα beatmaker! Ok, δε μου αρέσει ό, τι γράφει, αλλά σε γενικές γραμμές έχει κι αυτός τα classics του. Δυο κομμάτια του που γούσταρα πολύ ήταν το Down & Out του Cam'Ron και το This Cant Be Life του Jigga! Έχει πολλά bangers και γενικά διακρίνω πολύ ταλέντο στον τύπο. Σίγουρα έχει τον σεβασμό μου.

Οι Wu Tang αγαπούν τα concepts. Τι είναι τελικά αυτό το Killa Bees;

Χμ...για να είμαι ειλικρινής, όταν μπήκα στον κόσμο των Wu αυτές ήδη τσιμπούσανε, οπότε δε μπορώ να σου πω με σιγουριά τι ακριβώς είναι. Εγώ απλώς έπεσα μέσα στη φωλιά τους! Και ναι! Οι Wu λατρεύουν τα concepts! Αλλά καμιά φορά είναι καλύτερο να κάνεις μόνο τη δουλειά σου και να μην ασχολείσαι με πολλά, πολλά άλλα! Όπως ακριβώς και οι μέλισσες!

Η Οικογένεια των Wu Tang (Wu Family) έχει δεκάδες καλλιτέχνες υπό το όνομα της. Πως άραγε θα μπορέσει ένας ακροατής να τα τσεκάρει όλα; Θα χρειαστεί να ακούει και να ψάχνει δίσκους παράλληλα για μήνες.

Μόνο με ψάξιμο! Δεν υπάρχει άλλος τρόπος (και πιο ωραίος) από το digging. Το καλό είναι ότι παρά τα πολλά ονόματα, αρκετοί έως πολλοί συνδέονται με τα βασικά μέλη των Wu. Οι Ice Water με τον Raekwon, οι Black Nights με τον Rza και ούτω καθεξής. Οπότε αυτό βοηθάει κάπως στο να διαχωρίσεις ποιος είναι τι.

Απλά στηρίξτε το αληθινό hiphop. Αγοράστε την μουσική όσων πραγματικά σας αρέσουν, δίνοντας τους κίνητρα να συνεχίσουν να γράφουν καλά raps & beats. Ενισχύστε το αυθεντικό hiphop ώστε να μπορεί να ζήσει!

You are considered one of the best beatmakers in the game, how do you handle this title?

I take it honorably, I'm a humble person so you won't hear me talk all type of shit about being the best. I understand that it is the people who lay the titles on artists, a lot of people like to label themselves this or that, but I believe it is only the people, the crowd who can give you the title. I know I have heat but I prefer to let the listeners be the judge.

Staying on the same subject, many people admire you because you managed to gain a respectable position in a big music family (Wu tang), in which the Rza's music attitude was prevailing. Any comment?

It's big to get that respect when you have a legend who came before you. It's an honour and I can only do my part by adding to the name, to the W, to hip hop. I would lose my respect if I came with weak music or didn’t put in my full efforts.

I wanted to prove that Rza didn’t just put me on because I was at 36 Chambers asking for that chance, I wanted to show that I'm on because I have been blessed with this talent, and I know what I'm doing and that I can do it without biting or copying the blueprint.

Tell us about the Almighty group! Is it some sort of supergroup?

That's M-Eighty's child right there. He put that together so I can't take credit for that joint, I just did my part and played my role trying to give him what he needed and wanted for it. I can take credit for the joint "Come To Life Faster", because Eighty wanted to use that beat for an instrumental interlude, but when I heard it I had to tell him "nah!!! I'm rhyming on this!". He came to Detroit and I had already knocked it out. Shouts to Purpose from Tragic Allies for that heater too. Whutup Eighty!

A lot of people like to label themselves this or that, but I believe it is only the people, the crowd who can give you the title. I know I have heat but I prefer to let the listeners be the judge.

Can you name 5 of your songs for which you feel really proud?

1. Day to God is 1,000 years - that was my debut basically and it's a flawless song....lyrics too.
2. Street Corners - Masta Killa, Gza, Deck over a classic - one of my favs.
3. Black Royalty - probably my best and deepest lyrical performance on here.
4. A Nice Hell - this song really means something to me, and my city, it was such a feeling at that time with that song. It was originally supposed to be on Thought For Food Vol. 1, but I did it and thought there's no way I can have this as just a mixtape joint...
5. The Letter - no one has heard this yet but it's an ode to a fallen friend, it's on School For the Blindman, coming soon. A Beautiful song in the same vein as Nice Hell... Very moving.

Tell us about the Think Different Movement.

I’m not on Think Different anymore, don't really know what’s going on with that right now. But it was definitely a mentality that we were trying to do it a bit different and keep that quality. The difference with that and the common hip hop attitude is just, the common hip hop is about following trends and doing what the previous guy blew up off of. That's never been me.

Tell us a few things about Wu Elements as well.

I don’t think there’s anything that’s gonna happen anytime in the future. It could if brothers got together and got it moving but, we aren’t all linked up in communication like that. There definitely respect between us, but we've only been together a handful of times, and everyone is with their own people usually.

Do you like Kanye West as a producer? Do you think he deserves all the hype he’s getting?

Yeah I like Kanye. Do I like everything he does? Hell no. But he has his classics. He's into a lot of different sounds. But I like his real hip hop shit, like Cam's "Down and Out' or Jay's “This Can’t Be Life” etc... He has a ton of bangers, very talented, he gets my respect.

The Wu Tang sure loves concept-based projects. Do you know how the Killa Bees concept was created?

Nah, I’m not sure how that was created. Before I came into the Wu world they were already swarming so I just fell in line, and got in the hive! Concepts are important but sometimes you just go do your work and lay it out, like bees.

Wu Tang Family has numerous artists. How a fan can check all the projects they have released, given that it would take months to find and listen to everything?

I guess do a search on all the members, find out all the names first, then go in! Certain groups come from certain members like Rae has Icewater, and Rza has the Black Knights, so look at the generals and see who the branches are from there.

Which is your favourite Wu solo album?

Supreme Clientele. Hands down my favourite.

Any words for the fans that will read this interview?

Just keep supporting the real shit. If you don’t feel like an artist has put in an effort on their joint then buy mine or someone who you can tell did their job instead, because I put in work and effort into each word I spit and each beat...Support the real shit so hip hop can live!
